whoa MY stats! --- T.Y.

  • May. 15th, 2008 at 12:40 AM
My May 14 StatCounter graph was quite a surprise to me. From my average 200-300 pageloads and unique visitors it jumped to a whopping 1,024 pageloads and 975 unique visitors last Wednesday, May 14 and today with 741 pageloads and 693 unique visitors. What the hell happened? Where did all these visitors come from? I have't even bloghopped for more than 3 months now. My mom loved the Mother's Day Tribute entry I made for her and asked me how she could share it to her friends, I gave her the link. But, there aren't even a hundred in her email contacts. On the other hand, I was chatting with a blogging friend whose blogs have PR3-2 and told me that she doesn't have that much visitors, she barely get 50 unique visitors in a day! Hmmm, I hope it stays like this forever, though. And I hope GOOGLE gives me back my very well deserved PR. This goes to show that google does not have a fixed nor objective algorithm to compute page ranks. Lest, this website was penalized or hand picked by google but, what about the others? uh-oh! Anyhoo, thanks for all my visitors last Wednesday till today and hope you'll come visit this site regularly.

it's in the brand

  • May. 15th, 2008 at 12:21 AM
The reason why I was able to update all my other blogs and completed the layout of my new blog, VanityKit.com is because I do not have an on campus class for this week and the next yipee! But it does not mean that I do not have any assignments or papers due this week, it's just that I can put that on hold until Sunday and attend to my blogging tasks 1st. However, I got a call from my Russian classmate asking me about our final project. Apparently, she did some researching already and asked about my ideas. She shared this website to me: http://www.brandidentityguru.com. In that project we were asked to develop a coffee shop from building it's online marketing website and also make a spanking brand that would retain in the minds of its new and old clients. Good thing, my Russian classmate share this site to me because I got a lot of information on this certain Marketing Company that gives tips on how you can make the most out of your company brand names. It also has a feature in their website where you can take your brand name into a test and see their effectivity rate. Surprisingly, I got excited and wanted to start my final project asap but I still have a long list of blogging task to do.

As I was making my mother's day entry for my mom, I saw this photo. Oh gosh! This photo proves that I can't really attend to just a single task hahaha! (never mind my hair!). I was reading a novel, feeding Ethan with a milk bottle at the same time letting him sleep and was watching TV in between. (hubby took this pic)

beauty regimen

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 3:53 PM
One of the things I greatly miss about Manila is their cheap beauty regimen services such as pedicure, manicure, hair spa, and my favorite facial! Here, these beauty regimen service are but luxury because of the skyrocketing rates. I wish to have a facial soon because I think my face badly needs it now. It's been almost a year since my last facial and I miss how it cleanses my skin. Fortunately, my genes gave me nice skin which makes me acne-less for my entire life so I wouldn't be bothered with the best acne treatment but still, I need facial. Sigh.

I received a call yesterday and it was good news. We got our 1st choice apartment and we'll be moving in by mid June! By then, my school papers are done as well as my final exams so I could focus on the big move. Hubby and I can't so wait for that day. For now, here are some photos of our future place in the next 12 months or more.

and here's one of the amenities that I hope I could make use of every single day hee! I SHOULD be going here everyday for an hour at least, rather than going to the gazillion of fastfood chains just right infront of the apartment complex yay!

lange & sohne

  • May. 14th, 2008 at 11:06 AM
I admire people who can live without watches. I mean, in this time of age, who can actually survive without a watch? Hubby and I cannot live the house without a watch. Whatever occassion or wherever we maybe we should always have a watch o we'd be conscious with time. We are such busy bees that we need to track down our time save for special vacation get-aways. I learned to accessorize myself with a watch and I would care about the style over the brand. But, for hubby, tested watch brands are very important because they become an investment for him. One of the fine watches in the world which hubby wants to have are lange & sohne watches. They came from a fine watchmaking industry in Germany. If you visit their website, you'll see that they have a variety of collections from the classic styles to those incrested with diamonds. Their website includes a blog page in their website which provides wealth of news on watches, reviews from timepiece and jewelry experts and a lot more. You can search any time of finepiece jewelry or watch by their brand name. It is also easy to navigate. I was drooling the entire time, I can just imagine if hubby was browsing with me. But then again, it is not our priority this time. So this watch shopping will have to be put on hold.

bed weather

  • May. 12th, 2008 at 11:25 PM
The weather is starting to be really unpredictable again. We are currently on a 30s-40s, seems like winter on Spring and the next day will be to hot. All I want to do is sulk in the bed. My son has been taking 2 naps a day too, he seemed to be really lazy playing around and all he ever wants to do is laze around the bed because of the current cold weather. On the other hand, hubby's Aunt was so pissed with the weather as the Digital Printing Banners in one of her branches were badly caught by the wind. They had been completely damaged by the strong wind last night and therefore no store Signs were working anymore.

She asked me to do some research on online digital signage printer and I found about FASTSIGNS®. So far from all I have seen, FASTSIGNS® sign and graphics centers use innovation and technology to in making signages. Buying online includes thorough design consultations, production, file transfer and on time delivery. You can request for detail customization of your banners and signs. Everything else will be printed with high resolution. I think this is what hubby's Aunt is looking for. At least, I was able to do one productive thing today despite the bed weather.

We had a boring and lazy weekend, blame it to the very bad bed weather. We spent most of the time in the room lazing around. And then hubby thought of taking pictures of our son's recent favorite toy collection: TRANSFORMERS! I tell you he is so gaga over them. He would watch transformers the movie (yes not the animation) 3x a day! So here they are, his decepticons and autobots!

THE AUTOBOTS

THIS ENTRY IS FOR MY MOMMY and MY SON's MAMY TATA!!!
HAPPY MOTHER's DAY!

One of God's biggest blessings to me is He giving me the best mom and bestfriend one could ever have. A very very gorgeous and sexy mommy at age 57!

She's the tita Nellie-barkada to my friends, they can talk about anything under the sun! To this day, my friends would call her or drop some goodies for her even when I'm not living with her anymore. My sister-in-law, Ava never fails to greet her on special occassions. She's the surrogate mom of my bestfriend, Tet.

She's very skilled in anything the involve crafts and a genius when it comes to baking thus she created my wedding cake and Ethan's 1st birthday cake and all of my other birthday cakes until I stopped blowing candles. You should see how fast she whips sumptous dishes on every occassion in the family. For me, her dishes are the best in the world. NO ONE CAN BEAT THEM!

She's the mother-in-law who always thinks that there is no better person for me except for my husband, Titan. That's one of the reasons why I married this man. Mother knows best, right? They're the terrific tandem!

And eventhough, her only youngest and only daughter is the 1st to get married in the family. She was very supportive and happy for me and Titan. She always was and forever will.

Then, I blessed her with her 1st grandchild, my son, Ethan. I would never imagine motherhood without her by my side. She was the one who carried Ethan on his way home from the hospital. She was staying in the same room as ours during the 1st few sleepless nights we had Ethan. She was present in all of Ethan's 1sts. She gave him his 1st haircut, 1st nailcut, 1st meal, 1st bath and many other 1sts. Yes, it wasn't me, it was her. She was present in Ethan's every doctor visit, threatre kids plays, and children parties.

So, just imagine her sadness when we announced our big move and that she can no longer see her daughter, only son-in-law and 1st apo everyday like it used to be. She insisted on putting up a christmas before we left last year, so in a way she was able to spend Ethan's 3rd Christmas. We had Christmas celebration in October. They also had their last photo opps on Ethan's favorite park and in all corners of the house.

It was even harder to part with her during the day of our departure. I almost didn't leave the country.

But like any mother would do, she was the ever supportive mother and told us to move on with our lives and that this opportunity is the best for our young family.

To my ever-pretty Mom, I am glad that you are my mother. I will forever be grateful of your genes, skills, values and motivation in life. We love and miss you. See you soon! This slideshow is for you.

on ADHD

  • May. 11th, 2008 at 11:17 AM
When my son was almost 2 years old, I had doubts that he has ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. He is such an energetic boy and was always running around and restless. So, I asked my pediatrician if it's okay to bring Ethan to a pediatric development specialist and have him checked, of course he said it was not a problem, however it entails a huge amount of consultation fee. I don't care, I just want to make sure. When we went to the development specialist, Ethan did all the exercises with flying colors and I was told that he was very normal, NO HINTS of ADHD at all. I remembered my comments exchange with Jane, a mommy blogger too. She said she almost brought her Sophia for ADHD check-up too because of her never-ending energy, we are both paranoid mothers LOL! While I was in the search for ADHD information, I chanced upon this website: http://on2url.com. It is said in this website that there were numerous studies that prove that most children who have ADHD are deficient in omega-3. Changing your children's diet may control the ADHD. Ritalin and Omega-3 are natural remedies for ADHD. Particularly, PharmaOmega Learn is an omega-3 supplement specifically formulated for school-aged children. They currently have a promo in order to increase public awareness on this information by giving away free samples of Learn. You might want to avail of it. If you have any doubts or inkling that your child may be inflicted with ADHD, it won't hurt to have him tested so you'd be inform at once.

  • May. 10th, 2008 at 10:03 AM
It's Saturday, I should still be sleeping at this hour, hubby and Ethan should be at the playground for their weekly running and scheduled sports activity. But instead, I was awaken by hubby because apparently, one of the HDMI cables for our PC is missing. Oh God! I am still very sleepy, I slept at 4am last night because I was finishing some blogging tasks and updating my secret blog too. I know I'm bad with keeping cables especially if I am blogging too fast at the same time uploading too many files and photos. Hubby, on the other hand is a neat freak when it comes to our cables, he has special compartment for each of them. I hope we find them soon, so I could go back to my slumberland.

However, the offers at buy.com are just too hard to resist. What do you think? Should we?

honoring 'HER' (a mother's day entry #1)

  • May. 8th, 2008 at 1:10 AM
I survived my midterms! One with flying colors and the other with an okay grade. Now, I am feeling the stress coming out of my system. I can't even put myself to blog but I need to post this video that my Kuya sent. My brothers are not really showy with their emotions but you know that they have been always there to protect me, especially my eldest brother. He makes sure that my parents, Dico, me, Titan and Ethan are always okay. He would give and do anything for all of us. Kuyang-kuya talaga! He can get mushy at times especially on occassions such as Mother's day but makes sure to inject a little humor in his every mushiness.Watch this video he sent me with his mother's day greetings. A MUST WATCH! hahaha! This is really awesome, I have probably said half of this to Ethan and he's only 3 LOL!
I truly madly deeply miss my family that sometimes looking at family pictures are too painful to take, I ended up crying. Pathetic I may sound, but I just can't stop myself from missing them. I hope I can fully adjust with this separation. My kuya and I have the same birthdays and photos below were our last birthday celebration together in 2005. He moved in Canada in early 2005 and is now in California. I am hoping that we'll celebrate our birthday this year together. ***Crossing fingers once again.

never-ending to do list...

  • May. 8th, 2008 at 12:42 AM
On top my school demands, I remembered that I should be gathering and emailing Automobile Insurance Quote to my hubby's Aunt. They wanted to change their current provider because it wasn't as comprehensive as what they were informed and they were getting such higher rates for 3 of their cars. I didn't realize that my week would be as toxic and busy as this week that is why I volunteered on doing that for them. I know how busy they were so I gladly offered them that I could do the canvassing and searching for the most appropriate automobile insurance quotes.

Good thing though because I am one internet savy woman. I know very well that getting online quote is easier than going through the yellow pages nor running around and approaching every insurance agent. Say for instance, advantageautoquotes.com, I didn't have any hard time getting online quotes when I contacted them yesterday. They were fast in giving me the needed quotes and some low-cost choices on car insurance. E-commerce is really making our lives easier and convenient especially if you are like me who never completes her never-ending to do list.

wordless wednesday #10

  • May. 7th, 2008 at 11:35 PM
I am so stressed with my midterms exam tomorrow. For some odd reasons, my professors scheduled both midterms on the same day. I had to read 14 chapters all in all and I have just finished reading 4. I am rooting for an A (not just a passing score) because I am eyeing for an academic scholarship. Hay pressure pressure!
If you notice, my weekly Wordless Wednesday entries include photos which I really took on that specific Wednesday but for this week's wordless wednesday, I have no time to take any pictures. I also discovered that you can post any photos you have taken on any day LOL! So for this week's entry, I have chosen a photo that is very close to my heart. This is a photo of me with my loving brothers on our very 1st Boracay trip back in 1996 (i guess hahahah!), it was more than 10 years ago when Boracay was yet so serene and undiscovered. Obviously, I have been missing my brothers. I wonder when we will have that big family vacay again, the last time we had an out of the country trip was in 2003 when we spent 2004 new year in Thailand, that was also my and Titan's honeymoon. I miss you kuya. I miss you dico.

rainy days are here

  • May. 7th, 2008 at 11:02 PM
It was quite surprising that for the past days, it has been raining so bad here and my son has never stopped singing "rain, rain go away..." everytime he sees the rainfall. My son is one unhappy person when it's raining because he cannot play in the backyard nor can we have a stroll to the nearby playground. But, I like it when it rains here because for the past weeks, it has been really hot. With the rainfall and all, the weather is becoming colder. While we were watching TV this afternoon, we were interrupted with a Tornado warning, I was really scared. That was the 1st time I encounter such warning. The latest Tornado disaster happened in Suffolk which is just 20 minutes away from where we are. This change in weather and constant raining made me realize that when hubby goes to work, he doesn't have any umbrella. I need to get one for him at the Umbrella Supermarket. I am quite picky when choosing umbrellas, I want them really sturdy yet handy. Most of our previous umbrellas, I got them here: http://www.umbrellasupermarket.com. However, relatives have been asking for our umbrellas as they really find them beautiful for an umbrella and now hubby nor me doesn't have a decent umbrella. I really wish this Tornado warning stops and our very erratic weather stabilizes because I have a feeling that I, hubby or my son can get colds from all these and I am too tired to take care of a sick family member with my busy life now.

FLICKR for your photos

  • May. 7th, 2008 at 8:03 AM
I have a flickr account but I seldom use it. I remember how surprised hubby's cousin was when I told her that I'd rather use my multiply account in uploading photos over flickr. She said that I could store more photos in flickr without them adjusting the size of the pictures. I didn't know that. But, I seemed to already notice how good pictures are from my friends' flickr accounts as compared to the photos I store in my multiply account. If only I have the time to transport all of my photos in my flickr account, I would do it right now. But things are really busy. I will one of these days. Then I saw this website just this morning: http://www.stylishwebdesign.us/directory/how-to-add-the-nofollow-tag-to-the-flickrrss-plugin/. They simply teach you how to make use of the  Nofollow FlickrRSS. It's an interesting website that made me more decided to save one day to organize all my photos and make use of my flickr account. You see, I have about 3 paid photosites, 1 for our wedding photos, 1 for our son's photos and 1 for my random photos. I would love to consolidate them into one site so my lurkers and family would have an easy time navigating them. How about you do have a flickr acount?

  • May. 6th, 2008 at 3:25 PM
May 3, celebration with the clan.

Despite us insisting that we don't want to bother the rest of the family with a big celebration, everyone agreed to throw him a party. We cannot refuse such invitation. Ethan was delighted to see everyone again. The party ended at 10pm. When the last family member left, Ethan threw the biggest tantrums ever. He wanted everyone to stay and sleep with us. It melted my heart. He knows occassions like these are rare. Anyways, the highlight of the party was when Kuya Lucky gifted him with his 1st Trike. This ends Ethan's 3rd birthday kwento. Till next year, we promised him with an Orlando birthday celebration. Crossing our fingers! hee.

the secret is in the codes

  • May. 6th, 2008 at 3:01 PM
Do you know that there is a website which provides Service Manuals on all car brands? Well, I happen to chance upon this site: http://www.tradebit.com/tagworld.php/service+manual. This website does not only provide codes for car service manuals but also gadgets and other household brands. Tradebit, Inc. focuses on digital goods and online promotions. If you are looking for certain codes for your gadgets, cars or household brands, search it through the website and you will be provided with Tagged downloads for service and repair manuals. Once you compare all the tagged downloaded codes for your cars, household items and gadgets, you can easily make the cheapest and most guaranteed purchase. This site seems to be comprehensive, complete and user-friendly. I think am going to tell my Uncle about this, he has been whining on repair companies who seem to be overcharging him and still not doing the right thing for his cars and gadgets. Knowing him, he wants to know what they do before he could fully give his trust on the repair company. I guess by providing him with this site, he would be informed of the services these repair companies offer. The service manuals are affordable rather than having your car and other household brands over and over again.

our ETHAN turns 3! (part3 of 4)

  • May. 6th, 2008 at 1:49 PM

May 1, 2008. Ethan Turns 3 years old.

After our advance birthday family celebration HERE and after receiving gifts from thoughtful uncle ninong, aunt and tita HERE, Ethan thought his birthday was over. Of course, I wouldn't miss surprising him on his birthday morn! Despite a 7-page school paper I did the night before, I woke up early and baked him some colorful muffins and a birthday cake he would blow as soon as he wakes up and before his baba leaves home. Good thing as his little Aunts helped us in blowing some ballloons which we placed in the backyard. The 1st thing that Ethan does when he wakes up is pull up the window blinds and look out of the window overlooking our backyard and lake. Unfortunately, the grass were sharp and some balloons popped out.

I was too busy the whole week and requested hubby to buy the baking ingredients. He missed out buying some of them, which explains these messy cakes and muffins LOL! But of course, Ethan enjoyed blowing his candles and eating his muffins with his baba. Hee!

and here are the rest of the pictures.

Then we dropped him at a Tita's house so he could spend time and play with his Uncle Silver and little Aunts. When they came to pick me up at school, he gave me this big smile. I know he had a fun birthday. His very first here.

and yes Grandma did not fail to cook pancit for long life!

Again, HAPPY HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY ETHAN XAVIER!!! May you be as healthy and as adorable as always. Be a good boy always. This video is for you mamyta, daddy yo, uncle ninong wowie, uncle ninong dico and yayay!

flowers or cash?

  • May. 5th, 2008 at 1:38 PM
I have noticed that some flower suppliers are taking advantage of special occassions particularly Valentines and Mother's day. The prices of flowers at these time of the year are just skyrocketing. That's why sometimes men would rather spend their money on certain gifts such as bags, perfums or just cash in exchange of flowers. But for me, I feel most loved and special when hubby takes time to drop by a flowershop and get me a stem of rose or a bunch of wildflowers. I remembered my male friends who would gather all their flower orders on Valentine's day and order wholesale roses. This would come out cheaper rather than getting them by the stem. I bet those group of male friends are going to gather again their flower needs for Mother's day and order everything online at fiftyflowers.com. This is actually a very strategic way of saving up your money. uhuh.

While my son, hubby and I were watching Transformers the Movie (this is a 2x a day routine for all of us, that's how addicted our toddler is with the movie ), my son blurted out all of a sudden, "baba wook! (look!) nice engine!". He was referring to the scene when bumblebee was malfunctioning in the middle of the road and Mikhaela opened the engine to check on the transmission. But in the movie, engine nor transmission were not mentioned. He probably overheard his dad talking to a friend on the phone while discussing used engines and transmissions a friend bought from midwest auto recycling. We really have to be careful with our conversations as kids' brains are such sponges. The absorb anything easily.

weekend snapshotS #10

  • May. 4th, 2008 at 12:05 PM
If there's one person who will miss 967 Colleen Drive the most, it is the little boy. He will miss having a big backyard (and frontyard where he picks flowers and catches bees every morning) for his playground. We'll have to improvise a little playground in our 2-bedroom apartment, how? I Don't know.

After we leave, this backyard will be empty and quiet. No little tikes toys. No little boy's giggles. No little man screaming and shouting to his heart's delight. The lake, the hunky neighbors, the ducks, the birds and the greens will miss him and his tiny loud voice and laughter...

before I lost track...

  • May. 3rd, 2008 at 2:29 PM
Before I lost track of what else is lacking for our big move, I have to list down the Bedroom Furniture and living room furniture we need to buy. Yes people, we found 2 potential apartments and hopefully we get either of the 2. They're the best we've seen so far. I'll post about that on a separate entry.

I am lucky to have Titan as a husband, he has very good choices on home furnitures and he loves decorating them. In fact, he has Lifestyle Solutions in every nook of every house he visits. Sometimes, he is more domesticated than I am hahaha. I can't wait for the day that we finally buy our own house, I know it'll be gorgeous with hubby being the main and sole interior designer.

our ETHAN turns 3! (part2 of 4)

  • May. 3rd, 2008 at 1:34 PM
Pre-birthday celebration, April 29.

As I have mentioned HERE, it was impossible to squeeze in our busy schedule Ethan's 3rd birthday treat, so we had to do it 2 days in advance. We started this tradition since his 1st birthday that we go out as a family (me, the baba and the bday boy ONLY), bring Ethan to the mall/arcade and shop for his gift. However, we missed doing this on his 2nd birthday because hubby was already in Chicago at that time. This year, we originally planned to eat at AppleBee's, Ethan's favorite resto next to El Pollo Loco, but as soon as he sees Chef Red waving at him, he ran to him and gave him a hi-5. We changed our minds and had dinner at RedRobin.

We started the day by giving Ethan his very delayed haircut! He only agreed to have one for as long as he sits on my lap and without a cape. He is used to go to kiddie salons in the Philippines but it's very impractical to go there here. Instead, he went to baba's salon and we paid only USD7.00 plus tip!
Then, we brought him shopping at Toy's R Us, he was a very kind celebrant as he chose 2 toys only, Transformers' Bumblebee and Devastator. He also played some arcade games while I shopped for my undergarments at Aerie (yey!).

Ethan was sooo overly excited that in every moment he would look at us and say: "Happy mommy, Happy baba, thank you!". Afterall, it was his day.

Because of his too much excitement, he accidentally peed on his pants! Oh no! Hubby and I were laughing too hard as this happened for the 1st time since he was potty trained. What was funnier was he peed while on a ride in the arcade, we left the arcade immediately without cleaning the pee LOL! Ethan, on the other hand was so surprised to see that he wet his pants already, he didn't even feel the urge of his peeing because of too much happiness. We went to shop for his pants replacement at Gap. Hahaha! Dagdag sa regalo.

Then off we rest and ate at RedRobin. Ethan can't get enough of Chef Red the mascot! He was hugging him while giving him hi-5s alternately. The crew surprised him with a song and cake.

teach me baba! how do I transform the cars to autobots and decepticons!

We ended the long funfilled day with a short stop at Ethan's favorite bookstore, BORDERS. While baba had a cup of coffee while waiting for us. It was a joyous day filled with smiles and hugs from the celebrant. We love you Ethan, we're glad you had fun!

travel tidings

  • May. 2nd, 2008 at 11:44 AM
Do you still remember my entry on the fantastic red beach of Santorini, Greece? Apparently, there's more to Greece than their beaches. Rhodes, Greece is the principal city of the Greek Island of Rhodes. This place is famous for their antiquity such as the Colossus of Rhodes which is part of the Seven Wonders of the world.
Greece is definitely a must visit country when you are in Europe. They have so many intriguing places that have been famous for its mythology, rich history, pristine waters and fascinating Venetian architecture. Such as the Harbour in the Rhodes City and the Medieval entrance as shown on the pictures above. our ETHAN turns 3! (part1 of 4)

  • May. 1st, 2008 at 8:56 AM
Today is our sunshine's 3rd birthday. I was planning to write him a letter and post it here but God knows I tried to squeeze that in my busy sched and school papers due today, it's just that I have to choose between writing him a letter or surprising him with some colorful muffins. I chose the latter as obviously he would appreciate the muffins more than the letter now. I was worried that my son won't have a blast on his 3rd birthday. Considering that on his 1st Birthday and 2nd Birthday, he had big celebrations filled with many kids and loving family. But then, we have a new life here. As expected, it will be a quiet one. However, it is also this year that he had an inkling of what a birthday is, so I wanted it to be extra special. Hubby and I originally planned to cook for the whole clan but for some unforseen circumstance, we forego with that plan. Also, on this day I have a class till 10pm and it is impossible for me to celebrate his birthday today. We decided to have our family celebration last tuesday (part 2 of this entry). Busy people, we truly are!

And so I thought his 3rd birthday will be a quiet one, I was wrong. It turned out to be a weeklong celebration. Some few days ago, gifts, shopping money and birthday cards have been pouring in specifically coming from his uncle ninong wowie, ii jing and ninang chingkee! Thank you so much, you don't know how much you made Ethan very happy. The entire time, he keeps telling me that he wants to see all of you again. Here's some pictures to share. Notice the haircut? yes. finally he got one. To be continued... (this is part 1 of 4)
